Weekend Recap
I can't believe that July is almost over. This year has flown by, and now that I am back at work five days a week time is going by even faster! Friday night my mom and I saw Sheryl Crow at Humphrey's and she was amazing! Definitely one of the best concerts I have ever been to. (not that I go to concerts very often, but still).
We've been just hanging around, getting used to my husband's new work schedule. We did our usual trips to Target and Trader Joes, napped a lot, watched the olympics, and took some long walks to the park.
I've decided that I spend too much money on headbands, so I am going to be making my own soon! I just ordered a bunch of wholesale supplies and I am so excited. Stay tuned for tutorials, pictures, and if they turn out good, I will even start selling them in my Etsy Store along with my graphic design and stationery. I'm really excited to get started.
I just ordered some custom Orbit Labels from Inchbug. They actually had 'Makayla' as a pre-made name. These will be perfect for her bottles for day care!
Of course we had to play dress up and do a little photo shoot. Makayla is 20 weeks old and will be 5 months on August 9th!

Makayla Jo | Four Month Update | July 9, 2012
How old
is baby? 4 months on July 9th
Doctor’s
appointments?: We went to our 4 month appt. last Friday, July 13th. Next
appointment: 6 month appt. in September.
Stats:
·
Weight: 13 lbs, 11 ounces (doubled birth weight
- yay!)
·
Height: 25 inches (+5.5 inches from birth)
·
Head Circumference: 39 cm
·
Clothes size: 3 month sleepers are officially
too small, moved on to 6 month sleepers! Still in size 3 month clothes.
Probably for only another week or two.
·
Diaper size: Kirkland (Costco size 1-2) are
getting really snug but we have to finish up what we have, Overnight Huggies size 3.
·
Hair color: Brown
·
Eyes: Beautiful Blue
·
Teething: no yet, but I have a feeling that will change within
the next month or so.
·
Verbal skills: she has kind of stopped coo-ing a bit this month.
She definitely has started grunting. She has a new habit of doing this in the
car when she is trying to get a toy or a blanket in her mouth. She gets really frustrated
with her o-ball because the whole ball won’t fit in her mouth. She has started
laughing as well. She laughs before bath time every night and it is the cutest
sound I’ve ever heard!
·
Rolling: oh goodness, this child is a rollie-pollie. She will
not stay still. She will not lie on her back anymore. She has to be on her
belly. And now she is trying to crawl! Yes, that’s right at 4.5 months she is
inching forward like a little inch worm.
·
Sitting: she’s not sitting up yet, however, I think she will be
within the next couple of weeks!
Things
she likes: She still loves her Jumperoo. She loves trying to stand. She likes
lying in bed with mommy & daddy on the weekends in the early morning. Sometimes
she likes cuddling if she isn’t wiggling around.
Sleeping: I
seriously don’t even like talking about it because I don’t want to jinx it. M
is generally sleeping from 7-8 p.m. to 6-7 a.m. She does wake up a few times
whimpering in her sleep but I just walk down the hall, give her the paci, and
she falls right back asleep. We did experience a little of the dreadful “4
month wakeful” period I think when she started turning from back to belly in
her crib. She constantly thought it was play time when she was on her belly and
it took a few nights for her to get used to sleeping on her belly. Now, I put
her down on her back, and if she is still awake she will turn to her side or
belly immediately. If she’s asleep, she will eventually roll over to her belly.
She’s officially a belly sleeper.
Eating: I’m
actually surprised her daily consumption has not increased. She’s gaining
weight appropriately so I’m not worried. She is still eating between 4-6 ounces
every 3-4 hours, usually about 26-30 ounces daily. We tried rice cereal once
about two weeks ago and I don’t think she was ready because she spit it all
out. We’re going to try again within the next week or so. I’m really not in a
rush to start solids!
Nicknames: Sweet
Fish, Sweet Face, Makay, Makaykay
Things
we’re looking forward to next month: we’re starting swim
lessons tomorrow! We purchased a package of 12 “parent & me” classes, and we
can’t wait to get her in the pool. Our first lesson is at 9 a.m. tomorrow, stay
tuned for updates!

The 411 | Getting to know me
1. How long have you been blogging? And what got you started on blogging? Has your blog changed?
I've been blogging since 2008. I started my blog when I started my graphic design business in 2008 doing only wedding monograms. That is all I posted for quite some time, a couple of years. Blogging has lead me to most of my graphic design business which has been great. Since becoming pregnant last year, in 2011, and having my baby girl in March of this year, I am now blogging more about being a first time mom, but I will continue to blog about my designs as well. I am looking to network with other bloggers as well.
2. Did you go to college? If so where, and what did you study?
San Diego State University
Bachelor of Science in Public Health, 2004
University of Oklahoma - San Diego Satellite Campus
Bachelor of Science in Nursing, 2009
3. Where have you traveled?
Costa Rica, The Caribbean, Cancun, Alaska. Maui, twice. Need to travel more.
4. If you won the lottery, what would be the first thing you would buy?
Pay off everything, then I would buy a huge house with a live in nanny/housekeeper/chef!
5. What are your 3 biggest pet peeves?
traffic. having to straighten my hair (aka FRO), and cleaning bathrooms
6. What is your favorite movie?
Embarrassed to say, but actually, Home Alone.
7. What is your drink of choice; wine, beer, or liquor. Or Water, Soda, Tea?
Beer. All the way. Blue Moon Please.
8. What is something you enjoy to do when you have me time?
That time is pretty much slim to none now, however, I like to SLEEP, read, play on the internet, and catch up on my design business.
9. If you could have a $10,000 shopping spree to one store, which store would it be?
Target. Old Navy. Marshalls. TJ Maxx. I refuse to pay full price for anything.
10. Share with us an embarrassing moment of your past? Or present.
Junior high school I laughed so hard I peed my pants - in a Nordstrom dressing room!
11. What day would you love to relive again?
I'd actually like to relive 3/9/12 all over again. I was so in out of it from being in shock from my traumatic birth story and the drugs from the c-section that I really don't remember much.
12. If your life was turned into a movie... what actor would play you?
Hmmm...I have to think about this.
13. What are the jobs you had in high school/college/the early years?
My first job was a day care attendant at the local YMCA. I watched children while their parents worked out. Then I worked at a few gyms, at Banana Republic, and Lego Land!
14. Show us a picture from high school or college.
15. If you could travel anywhere in the world, all expenses paid, where would you go?
Bora Bora
16. Show us the most current picture of you or you, or your family, or anything of meaning to you.
17. Where do you see your life 5 years from now?
In our second home, a bigger one, a promotion from my current job, happily married, maybe a pet. Not decided on baby #2 yet....ask me in a year or two. ;)
