Makayla Jo | Six Month Update | September 9, 2012

Half a YEAR!!!!!!!!!!!! Sweet baby girl, you are 6 months old! Where has the time gone?
 

Height: 2' 2.457" (67.2 cm / 26.45 inches)

Weight: 16 lb 1.1 oz (7.29 kg)

Clothes: 6-9 month clothes. What the heck!? Your 6 month sleepers are getting super snug.
 

 Feeding 

You are now eating solids twice a day! You are having oatmeal or a fruit around 11 a.m. and sweet potatoes or squash around 5:30-6:00 p.m. You are eating a combination of Gerber baby food and home made baby food. You are also still having bottles, about 4-7 ounces every 3-4 hours. Sometimes before bed you polish off an 8 ounce bottle. You sure don't like being held anymore while having a bottle. But, you won't learn to hold your own bottle! So we're using the Boppy on the floor and holding your bottle. You are starting to learn how to use a sippy cup but you are unsure about it right now.

Sleeping

You are such an amazing sleeper. So amazing that I hate talking about it or writing about it. We have had you on the same sleep routine/schedule since you were 8 weeks old. And, you love it. You love it so much that when we try to be flexible to go out to dinner, or to go anywhere in the evening, it throws you off. Even a 15 minute difference throws you off bigtime. Your bedtime routine starts at 6:45 with a bubble bath, followed by PJs, a book, and your bedtime bottle. You are out cold by 7:15 p.m. You generally sleep for 11-12 hours. Sometimes you fuss in the middle of the night and I go give you your Paci, but I am trying to stop doing this as I just read the Sleep Easy Solution. The Sleep Easy Solution is absolutely amazing. I bought it to help with your naps. Sometimes you nap well, sometimes you don't. I do think that it is helping, and I would recommend it to anyone.

Personality

You have changed so much in the past month alone. You are "talking" so much more and laughing so much. You do anything to get your dad or me to pay attention to you! We have a few silly songs that we sing that you just LOVE. You crack up actually. Your dad and I must look like the biggest idiots. But, its fun.

Play Time

You are so advanced. Even your Ped said you will probably be walking by 9 months. Slow down girl!!! You started crawling, sitting up, and pulling yourself to stand the same week your turned six months. You are now mobile and able to go anywhere in the house. You are pulling yourself up to stand on anything you can get your hands on (couch, stairs, and even in your crib!). We had to lower your mattress already because you love standing in your crib. Actually, you love this new trick sooooo much that sometimes you won't go to sleep for an hour or you will protest your naps if we try to get you to nap in your crib. You still like your Jumperoo but not nearly as much, you would rather crawl (or stand).

Ear Infections

Late  August you got your third bad ear infection in less than two months. At your six month appointment, your Ped said she is going to refer you to an ENT the next time you have an ear infection. In the meantime, we are trying Chiropractic care. Dr. Melissa has been amazing!

We are also putting your swim lessons on hold. Even though the doctors say it isn't from swimming because you have inner ear infections, not outer ear infections we are still being cautious. It's been awhile since your last swim lesson and three weeks since your last ear infection so maybe that is helping as well.

Day Care

You are still in daycare twice a week. Sometimes three times a week if your Dad has court. You love it and we really love them. It is great seeing you interact with other children. However, your dad tried taking you to the day care at 24 Hour Fitness last week and you freaked out. He was paged over the intercom (LOL!) What was that about?

Teething

No teeth yet, you are still a little gummy bear.
